Gym rats. Do you ever wish you had the time to be one? Those chiseled abs and toned legs. In my dreams. After all of my Zanoni and Zanoni, I don't think I'll make the cut for the next "I want your bod" body spray commercial. It's a good thing there's more to life than being a gym junkie. Instead, I have become a museum rat. That's right. I have been to the Kunsthistorisches Museum four days this week alone. With a year long pass and only two month's stay, I can't pass it up. I'm almost friends with the security guard. He checks my ticket every morning. You'd think he'd just let me in by now. I think he thinks I'm up to no good, never fails to give me a little suspicious stare. Good thing he doesn't know I'm planning an Ocean's 11 style museum run. Here's a few things I saw.
Food Junkie. Who knew I could express my nutrition love through painting?
"Cause I'm a woman. W.O.M.A.N." Yes I sang that in my head after a glimpse of this. This girl, Nikita, Superwoman- it's all the same. Don't mess, you might find your head on a platter.
One of my many favorites.
Just call me Connoisseur of the Kunsthistoriches. I've reached maximum maturity in a few short weeks. You should be proud.
Wow, the Archimboldo painting is really amazing. He was so creative. Some people thought he was deranged, but I think he was just amazingly creative. Is the second painting Salome and the head of John the Baptist? Yes, she is Nikita and Superwoman rolled into one.
ReplyDeleteI do love the Madonna picture lots. This must be an incredible museum. I hope we can spend some time there.
You've reached maximum maturity?!!! Wow, this trip is worth every penny you paid for it. We will be expecting a whole new Ralphie Lauren when we see you next.
I too have an kunsthistorisches interesse. I bet you never knew that. Guten morgen.
ReplyDeleteThe second one is supposed to be Judith with the head of Holofernes. I have no idea who that is. Must have been daydreaming that day in seminary. Maybe it's part of the Apocrypha?
ReplyDeleteD- I'll make sure to take you to the kunsthistorishes. Guten Abend (good evening) or Tschuss! (c-ya)
Yes, I have actually always wished I had time to be a gym rat -- I would like the results anyways. Ethan and Preston are becoming gym rats of sorts. They might have chiseled beach bodies by the time you get back! I would also love to be a museum rat -- one of the definite benefits of being in Europe. Can't wait to meet the mature mtp when you get back. You might just have to change the name of your blog with all of this new maturity!
ReplyDeleteI can see we are going to have quite the time dragging Mom out of this place.
ReplyDeleteI do love a good representation of a powerful women, Hooray for Judith!
I vaguely remember a picture book with people made out of fruit, I now see the inspiration!
As far as the Madonna goes, I was going to say "of course you love it...." and then something about Billy Gilman, but, I think I'll just stop there :)
